Newsreels in which Dutch subjects of a certain week are presented.
On the occasion of its 25 years existence the VARA has organised celebrations in the Sportpark in Hilversum. Approximately 80,000 people attend the members celebrations. Among them some prominent guests, a.o. Prime Minister W. Drees, The Minister of Post-War Reconstruction and Housing, J. in 't Veld, and the Minister of Agriculture, Fishery and Food Distribution, S.L Mansholt. SHOTS: - Crowds of travelers move across the platforms at the train station of Hilversum; at the celebrations site the bicycle parking is more than full and the people walk in dense streams on the entrance roads; - a very large crowd of people has gathered at the site itself a.o. to watch artists perform in marquees and on stages; - relay runners arrive form Amsterdam with a torch; the fire is transferred to a several meters high torch that has been erected; 00:35 Drees; on his left the Royal Commissioner of Utrecht, Reinalda; 00:37 "Uncle" Jan van Zutphen (middle, with beard and glasses); 00:41 In 't Veld (third from the bottom); Mansholt (fifth from the bottom).
